Job Description

We are seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Casa Academy Supervisor. Under the general direction of the Licensed Program Coordinator, supervises CASA Academy at Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center. This position runs a recreational program for children; plans and implements activities each day; contacts special visitors; ensures state licensing compliance; budgets; orders supplies; attends and conducts required meetings; supervises, trains, and coaches assigned staff; works with children, school staff, and parents; performs safety checks; sets up classroom and cubbies; guides substitutes; and maintains required paperwork.

Candidates must have experience supervising other staff on shift, possess excellent teamwork and time management skills, and be able to communicate effectively. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location: 

  • Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Sterling, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensures state childcare licensing standards are met as program activities and goals are implemented. 
  • Supervises staff in the performance of responsibilities. 
  • Plans, designs, develops and implements programs for children. 
  • Provides program information to prospective parents; and keeps supervisors well informed.

*Work schedule is from Monday - Friday, 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.*

Salary commensurate with experience. 

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; six (6) months of program experience supervising children; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of school-aged childcare and programming to meet state licensing standards. 
  • Knowledge of the methods and techniques of recreation planning, programming, and operations. 
  • Knowledge of childhood development. 
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills preferred.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Pass pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks. 
  • First Aid (Infant through Adult)/CPR certifications prior to hire or immediately upon hire. 
  • Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. 
  • Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
  • OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) training within 30 days of hire.
  • MAT training within 90 days of hire.
