We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Technical Assistant. Under the designated supervisor's general direction, this position assists with stage productions for the county. This position provides technical training and support of performing Arts Center programs; assists with preventive and corrective maintenance; provides room set-up/clean-up for performances; assists with stage lighting, sound, registration, and unloading of equipment or costumes; and ensures volunteers and performers follow safety guidelines. A successful candidate should be able to work independently and meet deadlines in a team-oriented work environment. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location: 

  • Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center, Purcellville, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Oversees facility maintenance program and equipment in the theater. 
  • Completes special projects with the team for Arts Center events like Winter Lights Walk or Lunar New Year. 
  • Provides customer service and may perform other essential job functions. 
  • Provides technical training to Center staff, volunteers, and community groups and assists with the management of 250-seat theater activities and rentals.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Theater, Theater production or a related field; prefer at least 6 months experience working on the technical side of theater or a performing arts center environment. or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge of fundamentals of lighting, sound, projection, and live streaming theater technical systems. 
  • Knowledge of theater and performance operations including digital audio systems and ETC ION lighting console. 
  • Knowledge of safety in set design and construction, safe and efficient use of tools; safety, and emergency procedures.
