The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Property and Evidence Technician located in the Administrative and Technical Services division of the agency.
Duties include but are not limited to overseeing all types of evidence, found property, safekeeping property and unclaimed property. Provide customer service duties to include the transporting, logging, and securely storing of all evidence, releasing lost and found property to registered owners, releasing evidence to deputies for court hearings, maintaining electronic and paper files on all evidence, drafting letters, and sending certified mail to property owners; and preparing and distributing Property Disposition Forms to deputies for destruction of items. The position will also serve as a second party sign-off with evidence disposals. Assist with transporting all evidence and property items from the various Stations, including narcotics to the Virginia State laboratory for analysis, managing witness subpoenas and testifying to chain-of-custody issues in court, and releasing impounded vehicles back to their owners. Additional duties may include assisting the Quartermaster Section with the ordering, stocking, and issuing of all law enforcement equipment and receiving on purchase order requests using the County's Oracle system. Applicant must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a team setting and/or independently as needed. The successful candidate must have general knowledge of principles, methods and practices of supply, inventory control and automated record keeping systems to include Microsoft Word and Excel, data entry and database management.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.
High school Diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to lift materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
