Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants for a Facilities Security Technician I position within the Lock Shop of the Facilities Support Division.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, repair and installation of lock mechanisms, providing keys as requested, responding to emergencies, making or directing repairs, and repairing or replacing defective door hardware to include hinges, closers, strikers, and consulting with customers on locking systems. Position will also monitor the County-wide electronics card access system to ensure the system is fully operational, respond to system problems by troubleshooting and initiating repairs or adjustments, issue new or replacement access cards, handle customer requests for time adjustments and access histories for cards, maintain all system records, and provide superior customer service at all times.

Job Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related experience in safety and security systems, mechanical/electrical/plumbing trades, carpentry, building maintenance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Prefer at least six (6) months of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, card access and/or electronic security systems.

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license and good driving record are required. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday. Must be able to lift seventy (70) pounds. Must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. This position is considered "essential."
