Job Description

We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Recreation Programmer. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, facilitates special activities as assigned for a program(s) within a department. Depending on the assigned area, the position determines eligibility; approves or denies requests; markets program, plans; oversees certain program activities; and performs community outreach. In addition, they are instrumental in recruiting participants and volunteers for the Recreation and Community Center. A successful candidate would have good communication skills, be able to work in a team, and be able to multitask. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location: 

  • Dulles South Recreation and Community Center - South Riding, VA
  • Lucketts Community Center - Lucketts, VA 
  • Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center - Sterling, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for managing recreation programs extension events, including classes, special events, and activities; supervise licensed summer camp program to ensure compliance with Virginia Child Care licensing requirements. 
  • May develop and manage program budget and marketing plan. 
  • Monitors participants and patrons. 
  • Recruits and train volunteer leaders to conduct special projects and activities. 
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Salary commensurate with experience

Job Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of special recreation programs, depending on assignment. 
  • Knowledge of volunteer development services. 
  • Knowledge of administrative records and procedures required for assigned areas. 
  • Experience in various computer programs including Windows, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Criminal background, Child Protective Services (CPS), credit, and DMV records checks are required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Fingerprinting, TB test within 30 days of hire.
  • Hold or obtain First Aid/CPR certifications at hire or within four (4) months.
