DAYCARE ASSISTANT

We're seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Daycare Assistant. This position will provide childcare and assist in a daycare program for the County at a designated location. The successful candidate will possess time management, maintain open communication with children, parents, and staff, and problem-solving skills. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

• Supervises children's behaviors, communication, and involvement in program activities.
• Adheres to staff-to-student ratios and procedures for children supervision and interactions. 
• Assist with planning and implementing educational and recreational activities for Day Care children.
• Attends to children's personal care needs, and organizes and equipment, supplies, and meal items. 
• Maintains helpful and professional communication with parents, site personnel, and staff, and responds to parent inquiries and requests. 
• Prioritizes the health and safety of children in the program. 
• Performs and documents daily person, site health, and safety checks. 
• May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

*Work hours Monday - Friday between the times of 6:45 am - 6:15 pm; year-round *

• Lucketts Community Center, Lucketts VA 
• Loudoun Valley Community Center, Purcellville VA 
• Bluemont Community Center, Bluemont VA 
• Douglas Community Center, Leesburg VA 
• Sterling Community Center, Sterling VA 
• Dulles South Recreation and Community Center, South Riding VA

Some positions may qualify for partial benefits depending on the number of hours per week assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent and six months of program experience with children.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. 
• Knowledge of childhood development. 
• Ability to learn program requirements quickly. 
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately. 
• Ability to design developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children.

• Pass pre-employment fingerprinting and CPS background checks. 
• Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter. 
• First Aid/CPR certifications prior to hire or immediately upon hire. 
• Take OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens and Daily Health Check training within 30 days of hire. 
• MAT training within 90 days of hire. 
• Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
