Job Description

PRCS is seeking Maintenance Technicians to join our Outdoor Maintenance Division. The Maintenance division provides support to multiple locations within the department. If you enjoy working outdoors with a dedicated staff, are knowledgeable of the practices and techniques of ballfield, grounds, trails, woodlands and building maintenance, and preventative maintenance, then this could be the position you’ve been looking for.


As a part of the Maintenance division, technicians provide support such as mowing, equipment repairs, facility maintenance, emergency response, special event support and special projects.

Position priorities may include (depending on location):

  • Ballfield set up and maintenance, turf management, trails and woodlands maintenance, set-up, and breakdown for tournaments and events.
  • Snow removal, general painting, and carpentry.
  • Grounds maintenance including seeding, mowing, weed-eating, raking, dragging and lining ballfields, and trash removal or other custodial duties.
  • Operate equipment, machinery, and vehicles as necessary to complete tasks.
  • Utilize basic mechanical skills needed to operate and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to routine inquires and complaints and assist with record keeping
  • Regularly work with medium-to-heavy materials and occasionally with heavy materials over 60 pounds
  • Subject to call for “Essential 24-hour operations”

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in ground maintenance or building trades depending on assigned area; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPR certification preferred
  • Licensed as a Pesticide Registered Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred
  • OSHA certification as a forklift operator preferred
  • Membership in Virginia Recreation and Park Society preferred
  • Certified as a Playground Inspector by the National Playground Safety Institute is preferred
  • Grounds maintenance and/or field preparations with graduation from a technical school preferred

  • Positions may require a CDL Class A with passenger endorsement upon hire or within 4 months of hire and must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substances Testing program as outlined by Loudoun County’s Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
