Introduction

The Loudoun County Juvenile Court Service Unit is seeking qualified candidates for three full-time cooks serving the Youth Services Center located in Leesburg, VA. This is a new facility, opening in Spring 2023, which will include a secure Juvenile Detention Center and a less secure Youth Shelter for court-involved youth. This is an exciting opportunity to support the planning and implementation of new programming in a brand-new facility.

Job Description

Typical responsibilities of a cook include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation, cooking and serving of meals.
  • Attention to detail to coordinate inventory control and maintain accurate records of supplies and the number of meals served.
  • Utilize organizational skills to maintain kitchen cleanliness according to the Health Department standards.
  • Comply with relevant Federal State and County laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Coordinate inventory control of food supplies, utensils, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate program records.
  • Operate and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain records and prepare written reports in various computer system(s).
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.
  • Work schedule varies and requires weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma and one year experience.

Special Requirements

Hold or obtain a Food Service Sanitation and ServSafe Certification within three (3) months of hire; prefer CPR/First Aid certifications within one (1) year of hire; Complete OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) within 90 days of hire. Must complete other requested and required training, as needed for position.
