Job Description

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to work and train as an After School Aide in the County After School Activities (CASA) Program. CASA is a highly respected afterschool program serving Loudoun County's elementary aged youth for over 30 years. CASA embraces the uniqueness of each child, inclusive of all individual abilities or needs.


In the After School Aide position, employees are afforded the opportunity to work in an after school licensed childcare setting. While working with After School Site Supervisors and Leaders, Aides have the chance to learn how to provide supervision of participants according to Virginia state licensing, department policies and procedures. Employees in this position will learn how to plan and implement age-appropriate disciplinary techniques, receive leadership training, and gain a working knowledge of state childcare licensing standards.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with snack preparation and help with room set up and clean up daily.
  • Assure program supplies are clean, safe, age appropriate and properly stored.


The CASA program operates Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m., following the Loudoun County's school year calendar.


If applicable, please include paid or volunteer experience working with and/or supervising children in a childcare, recreation or educational setting and all applicable experience working with children with disabilities on your application.

Job Requirements

  • Position requires completion of 11th grade
  • Virginia state licensing requires candidates to be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be physically able to keep up with young children
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must exhibit strong communication skills

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Successful candidate will undergo a criminal background and child protective services check 
  • Must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Must have current TB test certification with negative result
  • Must be willing to attend 24 hours of paid annual programmatic training during the school year to enhance skills and knowledge of school aged childcare and programming
