We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Custodian Worker. Under the direction of the designated supervisor, performs custodial and/or maintenance assistance work for the County. This position, depending on assigned, conducts inspections; performs general indoor and outdoor maintenance; cleans bathrooms, kitchens, and mops floors; arranges tables and chairs; and takes out the trash. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills, teamwork skills, time management skills, motivation skills, and adaptability skills. PRCS serves a diverse population including but not limited to youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors.

We are currently hiring at the following location: 

  • Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center, Sterling, VA 
  • Dulles South Recreation and Community Center, Chantilly VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Prioritizing the health, safety, and company service standards to all our external and internal customers 
  • Assist with room set-up/takedown for activities and special events. 
  • Indoor and outdoor housekeeping, trash, and debris removal 
  • Operation of outdoor ground maintenance equipment 
  • Inventory and storing supplies. 
  • Daily inspections and safety checks 
  • Assist with emergency response and snow/ice removal. 
  • Transport vehicles for general purpose to designated locations. 
  • May perform other essential job functions and department assignment.

Job Requirements

Completion of 10th grade; high school diploma or equivalent preferred; prefer six (6) months of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Knowledge of basic maintenance and/or cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. 
  • Ability to perform physical tasks for designated duties and operate tools and equipment used in the work. 
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions related to the job. 
  • Ability to prepare for facility needs for special events.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Pass a pre-employment criminal background and DMV checks. 
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required. 
  • First Aid/CPR certifications immediately upon hire. 
  • OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training within 30 days of hire. 
  • Annually complete a sworn disclosure statement of affirmation disclosing any criminal charges.
