The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking a professional, dedicated individual who is interested in a part-time Cold Case Detective position in the Major Crimes Division to work 29 hours per week.
High School diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred); U.S. Citizenship; minimum age of 21; current valid driver's license; three (3) years of experience as a Patrol Officer; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All applicants must currently have a Virginia DCJS Law Enforcement Officer Certification or had the certification within the previous 24 months. Preference will be given to applicants who have a minimum of 15 years experience investigating major crimes and at least 5 years experience investigating homicides; should have specific training and/or education related to homicide and death investigations.

Selection process includes review of the applicant screening questionnaire and County application, an in-person background interview, physical abilities testing, panel interview, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical physical examination to include drug screening, and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, and driving record check.
