The Department of Family Services achieves its mission through three divisional areas-Clinical and Protective Services; Community Services and Outreach; and Internal Operations.
The Department's adopted FY 2022 budget is approximately $31 million. A total of 203.53 FTE's currently work within the Department of Family Services.
The Loudoun County Department of Family Services (DFS) is seeking a dynamic and innovative executive to serve as Deputy Director. The successful candidate will work closely with the Department Director and Leadership Team to advance the department's goal of becoming a modern, responsive, outcome-focused, and client-driven organization that strengthens individuals and families in the Loudoun community.
The Deputy Director reports directly to the Department Director and oversees all direct client service operations, implementation of business plans, and assists with the development of strategic plans and the department budget, as well as preparing and presenting key Board items. This position is responsible for the management of multiple highly complex projects, coordinates problem-solving of emergency or ad hoc assignments designated by the Director, and presents to community members, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, and in other public forums.
The successful candidate will have extensive administrative, supervisory, program development, and leadership experience, as well as demonstrated success in human services innovation and organizational change efforts.
Additional responsibilities include a robust evaluation of program services to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. In the Department Director's absence, the Deputy Director will lead the organization and represent the agency in local, regional, and state executive meetings.
HIRING RANGE: $102,287.63 - $148,317.06 Salary commensurate with experience.
Master's Degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or related field and a minimum of 6 years of related work experience with increasing responsibility in a complex human services system, including three (3) years in a supervisory or management role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer experience in local government, skills in clinical practice, and experience working with a culturally diverse workforce and community.
Demonstrated experience utilizing creativity and innovative ideas to solve human service issues; experience leading organizational change efforts; possession of strong interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate-written and verbally-in a clear, concise manor; is a strong collaborator, critical thinker, and able to develop solutions and facilitate problem solving; experience with quality improvement and monitoring compliance of local, state, and federal requirements; and the ability to build strong relationships with the County leadership, County agencies, external groups and departmental staff.
