Loudoun County, Virginia, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, is currently seeking applicants for the position of Engineer/Project Manager on the Infrastructure Compliance Team within the Department of Building and Development Land Engineering Division. This entry level position works closely with the Virginia Department of Transportation, Homeowner's Associations, engineering, and land development communities, in facilitating the turnover of maintenance responsibility of roads and stormwater infrastructure within the County.
Responsibilities include reviewing construction plans and record drawings for conformance to the design, geotechnical reports, and related documents, in addition to performing site inspections on residential streets and retail sites for conformance to the construction plans and as it pertains to the County's performance bonding requirements.
Responding to and addressing citizens' engineering concerns and calculating project cost estimates are additional responsibilities. Applicant must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask numerous projects in various stages of the construction process. The ability to provide technical guidance and conduct meetings with citizens, applicants, development community, county departments, and outside agencies and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies.
Work experience in performing land development site inspections, surveying, materials testing, erosion and sediment control, or storm water management inspections is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with familiarity in State and County regulations, VDOT design standards and specifications, and/or the Loudoun County Facilities Standards Manual. Experience working with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and GIS with the ability to document project files, daily logs, and inspection reports associated with their assignments is preferred.
This position includes inspecting sites, active construction projects, and may be exposed to inclement weather while in the field.
The position requires a valid driver's license. Offer is contingent upon successful completion of credit, criminal and driving record checks.
