PRCS- Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Recreation Programmer at Sterling Community Center in Sterling, VA and at Loudoun Valley Community Center in Purcellville, VA. Both facilities strive to provide a wide array of year-round programs and activities for the community.

Anticipated renovations for the Sterling Community Center will provide additional outdoor space to include a new patio area and renovated pavilion. Indoor renovations plans will provide added features to the center including a full court gymnasium, fitness room, game room lounge, computer lab, and more!

As a Recreation Programmer you will:

-Implement a variety of programs, activities, classes and special events to serve all segments of a diverse population

-Identify trends and assure programs meet citizen expectations and needs

-Develop marketing materials to promote programs

-Oversee and perform general supervision of facility drop-in users, renters and participants

-Handle customer concerns

-Assist with light facility maintenance tasks, such as room set up and break down

Job Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma and two years related work experience
  • Requires 6 months experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Must have certification in CPR and First Aid for adult, infant and child
  • Negative TB test result is required prior to beginning work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Membership in the Virginia Recreation and Park Society is beneficial to the position.
