Job Description

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to work and train as a Youth After School Leader. We have regular and substitute positions available at various school sites throughout the County for the school year. As a YAS Leader you will assist in the planning and implementation of recreational activities such as indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, holiday themed and special projects, as well as activities such as life skills and homework time for adolescents in grades 6-8.

  • Work hours are 3:15 p.m. to 6:15pm, Monday thru Friday, according to the school calendar
  • Substitute positions are also available and allow for a more flexible schedule
  • Please include all applicable paid or volunteer experience working with and/or supervising children in a childcare, recreation or educational setting

Salary Commensurate with Experience

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of program experience with children.
    Complete education and experience requirements to meet Virginia license requirements for
    position.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prefer six months experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

  • Successful candidate will undergo criminal background and Child Protective Services (CPS) checks.
  • Must obtain certification in CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Must have current TB test certification with negative result
  • Must be physically able to keep up with youth
