Loudoun County Animal Services is looking for a holiday helper! Do you love working with people, and want to work in a busy environment, where tails are wagging, customers are eager, and more than 2,000 animals receive shelter each year? This could be the place for you. Loudoun County Animal Services, now located in Leesburg, is seeking a three-month temporary (40 hr/wk) Customer Service Assistant.

The position is part of a team requiring a positive attitude and impeccable customer service skills to handle hundreds of visitors every week by interacting in-person as well as responding to telephone and email inquiries. The Customer Service Assistant works all aspects of front counter operations, including assisting customers with the adoption and surrender of animals, processing dog licenses, and input of lost and found reports.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked, frequently stressful environment while providing the highest level of customer service. Applicants should have strong verbal communication skills, a strong grasp of computers and data entry, and have the ability to perform multiple tasks with an acute attention to detail. Job Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in a clerical position involving contact with the public and working with automated systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Customer Service supports a physically demanding occupation, with the potential for exposure to infectious diseases, viruses, noxious fumes and chemicals, as well as risk of injury. Must be able to handle animals weighing over 50 pounds. Successful candidate will be considered essential personnel and is required to report for duty during inclement weather and other emergencies. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of animal identification, behavior and husbandry of domestic animals.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

Successful candidate will undergo a background investigation to include a credit check. Applicants must not have fears of, or allergies to, common companion animal species.
