The Loudoun County, Virginia Department of Planning & Zoning is seeking an experienced professional to manage the discretionary review process of land development applications in a large and expanding multifaceted community that is leading growth in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This position independently analyzes proposed medium to large-scale land development projects and provides recommendations to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors on consistency with adopted policies and ordinances. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of land use planning and development and will be able to coordinate with other departments and agencies, meet deadlines while autonomously managing multiple assignments, and present cohesive technical analysis to decision-makers. This position plays a large role in the implementation of the Loudoun 2019 Comprehensive Plan vision and is part of the planning team that will guide the evolution of walkable urban places near the County's metro stations.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Urban/ Regional Planning, Public Administration, Real Estate, Public Policy, Engineering, or Law and demonstrates three years direct work experience, including professional analysis and technical writing. Progressively responsible work experience at a level that required management of complex planning and land use projects is preferred. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is desired.
This position may qualify for relocation assistance in accordance with County policy. This position requires a valid driver's license, driving record check, and background/credit check.
