PUBLIC WORKS ENGINEER

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Public Works Engineer position. The successful candidate will perform full-performance level professional civil engineering work in support of various County Public Works and Stormwater projects and operations.

This newly-created position will perform engineering and project management services to include engineering calculations; permitting activities; project design for complex public works projects involving water storage needs, wash down infrastructure, debris removal, and site drainage improvements; develop professional services and construction contract scopes of work; manage construction and post-construction activities for stormwater and other public works projects to ensure the work is executed in accordance with approved plans and specifications; maintain project files and documentation; and deliver excellent customer service. Field work will be required.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technologies with coursework in Civil Engineering, and at least three (3) years of directly related professional engineering and construction management work experience with direct design as well as administrative experience, preferably in a public works organization; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer (PE) certification strongly preferred.

Valid driver's license and good driving record is required. On occasion, must be able to work evenings and weekends to accommodate meetings and outreach events.
