INFORMATION & REFERRAL PROGRAM MANAGER

Information and Referral (I&R) is the art, science and practice of bringing people and services together and is an integral component of the human services sector. People in search of critical services such as shelter, financial assistance, food, jobs, or types of support often do not know where to begin to get help, or they get overwhelmed trying to find what they need. I&R services recognize that when people in need are more easily connected to the services that will help them, it can reduce frustration and ensures that people reach the proper services quickly and efficiently.

The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is seeking a strong communicator and collaborator to lead a team of Information and Referral Specialists. The I&R Program also serves as Coordinated Entry for Homeless Services.  Responsibilities include:

• Oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of Information and Referral Services and Coordinated Entry Program
• Providing direction and leadership to a team of Information & Referral Specialists that perform duties associated with intake
• Providing strategic leadership, planning and analysis
• Coordination with community-based organizations 
• Contract management
• Management of Program Budget

As the leader of Information and Referral/Assistance Services the Program Manager builds relationships, and collaborates with team members to make a difference in our customers lives by ensuring that they receive the right information at the right time. 

 

 

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration or a related Human Services field and four (4) years of directly related professional work experience which includes providing intake services to clients, family members, or others to obtain information or services in a Social/Human Services setting to include one (1) year staff supervisory experience.

A successful candidate will have experience working in information and referral (I&R); homeless services; proficient with database applications for I & R systems; knowledgeable of community resources, systems and requirements for assistance, and experience working in support of people with diverse educational, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds; excellent customer service skills; and an ability to work effectively with staff and external contacts to build and maintain successful teams.

In the event of an emergency, may be required to work and may be assigned to an alternate work site to carry out duties that support the needs of the county's residents or employees. May be required to work outside of the normal, scheduled work week.

Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Pass pre-employment background check to include criminal, credit, DMV and CPS. Hold or obtain certifications if required for assigned position.
