This position works closely with the Environmental Health Manager to plans and coordinates the activities for the Onsite program throughout the Loudoun Health District. Work involves supervising Environmental Health Specialists and Environmental Health Specialist Seniors within the Onsite division.
This position oversees the compliance of septic and sewage ordinances by owners within the County. As well as; assures notices and violation of ordinances are sent to owners; oversees compliance and related enforcement actions; posts related compliance information on website; develops and maintains rural Environmental Health (EH) databases; and analyzes data; and reports on findings.
There is a degree of fieldwork required with variable environmental conditions.
Specifically this position:
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of environmental and public health, onsite sewage disposal systems, private well development and construction. Also, must possess demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to interpret and apply regulations and procedures; and to conduct inspections and investigations in all areas of environmental health. Must be proficient with computers and possess strong oral and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of State Law, VDH Regulations and policy and science and practices related to various EH programs; experience and training with Onsite Sewage.
Preferred Knowledge: Proficient knowledge of human resource management, performance management and staff development.
Work is typically performed in an office where normal working conditions are encountered.
Successful candidate will undergo criminal background, and driving record checks.
