Introduction

The Loudoun County Department of Family Services (DFS) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual for an Accountant position in one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for

  • Reviewing fiscal accounts, records, and transactions
  • Conducting monthly reconciliation and verification of accounts
  • Preparing and submitting Federal and State reimbursement requests
  • Uses GAAP and internal controls to evaluate and make recommendations
  • Analyzing financial reports, identify discrepancies, research errors and prepare necessary corrections
  • Maintains detailed and audit-ready financial files.
  • Working effectively in a team environment with County staff.
  • Analyzing transaction data to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local funding requirements

Job Requirements

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and two  (2) years of experience in Accounting or related field.  The self-motivated and engaged candidate will have strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls and experience resolving complex reconciliations with a strong attention to detail.

Excellent verbal, written, and customer services skills are essential in working with inter-department staff, customers, and leadership to interpret and communicate timely and accurate financial information and reporting requirements.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED

  • Governmental accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
