If you've answered yes to any of the above, Loudoun County Department of Family Services (DFS) may be just the place for you! Loudoun County's Department of Family Services is seeking qualified applicants to join a dynamic team in its Adult and Aging unit.

 

Job Description

The responsibilities of this position include case management services to older adults and adults living with disabilities and conducting investigations of self-neglect.  This position will work from our Leesburg office, and may work from other locations as needed. Typical hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, although the work requires flexibility to meet the needs of the community.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting laws, policies and regulations as related to Adult Services and Adult Protective Services Programs
  • Conducting home visits to assess client's needs, and monitoring service delivery
  • Informing clients of related services programs rules/regulations, and right to participate
  • Providing intensive case management services to the Companion Program clients
  • Providing accurate timely updated entries into required data-systems
  • Maintaining professional, confidential case records according to state regulations and agency practice
  • Completing necessary federal, state and local planning and reporting requirements
  • Coordinating with other agencies and participating in multi-disciplinary and inter-agency teams providing services to clients
  • Conducting community presentations and serving as a resource to clients and the community in area of expertise;
  • Other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess: A broad knowledge of Adult Services and Adult Protective Services programs/procedures; significant experience providing case management services to older adults and/or adults with disabilities; knowledge of social work theory, casework methods, and community organization/resources; knowledge of human behavior and the behavioral sciences, particularly concerning human development, aging, family dynamics, and interpersonal relationships; ability to engage clients in discussions regarding all aspects of their lives including finances, health and well-being, family and intimate relationships, sexual health, terminal illness and death; ability to respond quickly in a crisis situation; excellent time management skills to include demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks, and work flexible work hours; excellent communication skills: oral and written; and ability to maintain a balance of objectivity and empathy while dealing with families living in stressful or crisis situations.  

 

Job Requirements

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work or a directly related field and three (3) years of related work experience in a social service field or adult welfare department
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification)

Special Requirements

Preferred: Work experience in a local department of social services; MSW; LCSW; Bi-lingual skills

Hold or obtain certifications such as CPR if required for assigned position. Obtain specific training such as APS state training if required or desired for assigned area.
