Job Description

Loudoun County's Department of Information Technology is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Junior Network Engineer. The candidate should have a combination of technical and customer skills. This position will: - Help coordinate and oversee cable plant installation for voice and data communications - Ensure adherence to county cabling standards and advise on telecommunication and cabling systems to meet operational needs - Review capital construction and workspace design projects3 - Review quantity and placement of telephone jacks and equipment - Verify the suitability of plans with users, DIT staff, and vendors - Ensure vendors adhere to county standards for cabling and building infrastructures - Provide support to departments, consulting to identify needs and issues - Provide alternatives and suggestions for addressing customer/department needs - Consult with colleagues to develop best practices approaches to address departmental needs and requests We are seeking an individual with: - Technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills of cabling related to networks - Knowledge of cabling related to Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area network (LAN) design, telecommunication, and cabling standard infrastructures - Knowledge of wireless network cabling installation and troubleshooting - Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions - Ability to prepare technical reports - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, management, and clients - Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

HIRING RANGE: $55,214.14-$74,539.09

Salary Commensurate with Experience

Job Requirements

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in Computer Science, or related field and four (4) years of technical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in project management desired.

Special Requirements

This position may be required to work an on-call rotation and is subject to occasional recall for issue resolution. In the event of a county emergency, this position may be required to work and may be assigned to the Emergency Operations center for support. Ability to lift and/or carry up to sixty-five (65) pounds Additional certifications preferred by Department: Information Technology Infrastructure Library Foundation certification (ITIL), Project Management Professional certification (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or Planview/Innotas. Preferred experience with Innotas/Planview software and Leankit tools, other project and portfolio management software, SharePoint, Teams, ServiceNow software, and local government experience.
