Performs a variety of duties including inspecting permitted facilities such as restaurants, campgrounds, hotels and motels, recreational pools, migrant labor camps, investigating communicable diseases and general environmental complaints, rabies investigations and abatement.
Responsibilities include inspection and evaluation of food establishments and public pools; and investigation of food, swimming pool and other environmental health complaints as assigned.
Inspections and investigations will be conducted using independent judgment with minimal field supervision.
Must be able to complete training in the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Food program and become VDH Standardized in Food within 18 months of hire.
Some evening/weekend work and overnight travel will be required.
Prefer registration as an Environmental Health Specialist Certified Professional.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check to include criminal, DMV. Must provide own transportation and have an active valid driver's license.
