Loudoun County, Virginia, one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, is currently seeking applicants for the position of Engineer/Project Manager on the Infrastructure Compliance Team within the Department of Building and Development?s Land Engineering Division. This entry level position will be responsible for processing Individual Lot Grading Permits and ?as-built? plans, ensuring their timely reviews and as the main contact in the Department for these applications. This position will work closely with the Virginia Department of Transportation, Homeowners' Associations, and industry representatives, in facilitating the release and transfer of responsibility for the maintenance of roads and stormwater infrastructure. Responsibilities for this position include, reviewing construction plans and record drawings for conformance to the design, understanding of geotechnical reports and related documents, and performing site inspections on residential streets and retail sites for conformance to the construction plans and as it pertains to the County?s performance bonding requirements. Timely response to citizen?s engineering concerns and calculating project cost estimates are key elements of this job?s responsibilities. Applicant must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask projects in various stages of the construction process. The ability to provide technical guidance and conduct meetings with citizens, applicants, industry representatives, County departments, and outside agencies is essential. Applicant must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and GIS with the ability to document project files, daily logs, and inspection reports associated with their assignments. Most importantly, applicant must have excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills with an emphasis on customer service.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience in performing land development site inspections, surveying, materials testing, erosion and sediment control, or stormwater management inspections. Experience with State and County regulations, VDOT design standards and specifications, and the Loudoun County Facilities Standards Manual is preferred.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to inspect existing sites and active construction projects and may be exposed to inclement weather while in the field.
