REAL ESTATE APPRAISER

The Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue in Loudoun County Virginia is seeking a professional with real estate appraisal and ad valorem experience for the position of Appraiser I. Job responsibilities: Assess residential properties within assigned groups in accordance with Virginia Code and professional standards; conduct field review of assigned properties to ensure accurate up-to-date information in the County?s mass appraisal system; review and analyze sale data for assigned properties; ensure all construction permits are managed according to department standards and assessed accordingly; provide customer service to property owners or representatives regarding the assessment process, valuation or other real estate assessment related issues; defend assessed values at Board of Equalization hearings or other administrative hearings as assigned; participate in professional training to remain informed of federal, state, and local tax laws and professional appraisal standards.

HIRING RANGE: $49,799.99-$67,229.99

Salary Commensurate with Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and at least one (1) year of real estate appraisal or assessment experience. Familiarity with Virginia's local tax structure. Familiarity with computer automated mass appraisal systems (Prefer experience with Tyler Technologies iasWorld). Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Analytical skills and research skills. Planning and organization. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Must be flexible and have the ability to independently exercise good professional judgment. Professional designation in real estate appraisal or real estate assessment offered by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation or professional organizations such as the International Association of Assessing Officers is preferred.

Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions, traverse undeveloped land and tour construction sites. Occasional bending, stooping and light lifting may be required.

Successful candidate will undergo criminal background, credit, and DMV record checks. Must maintain a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence. Employees are prohibited from participating in any outside activity, including private appraisals, which may be deemed a conflict of interest by the Commissioner of the Revenue.
