The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is currently seeking an Employment Specialist to provide employment related services to clients for the County.
Conducts situational assessments; provides job development, placement and training, follow along services, benefits counseling, provides employment counseling and customized employment; assists with locating public transportation; provides referrals to other agencies for education, workshops, training for job seekers and other resources as needed; collaborates with other agencies; and evaluates and reports on employment related service needs.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or related field to assigned Department and one (1) year of related work experience in Social Work, Counseling, Employment Services or related field.
Knowledge of social, economic and health problems; specialized services and community resources; individual and group behavior; and research principles including analysis, interpretation and use of statistics. Proficient skill in the use of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Oracle and Anasazi; working efficiently through counseling and other methods with individuals and families in helping them solve their problems and the ability to plan and organize workload. Must be able to wear N-95 mask and personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face shield, mask, apron, gown, gloves, etc.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, NCIC, driving record check and TB test. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
