Job Description
The Prevention Specialist position provides community and school based prevention and intervention services; plans and implements after-school and summer programming in high-risk residential settings and high need schools; provides evidence-based substance abuse, gang/violence, and suicide prevention programs to selected high risk youth in schools during the school day; conducts community outreach and education; conducts individual, group and family prevention or intervention sessions; consults with community agencies, groups and other service providers; transports clients; may perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field: one (1) year of professional work experience working with high-risk youth or a mental health and/or substance use disorder and/or prevention services; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. Must be able to wear County-issued N-95 mask and other personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face shield, mask, apron, gown, gloves, etc.
Post Conditional Offer Contingencies
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background checks to include fingerprinting, NCIC, DMV, credit and TB test. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
