Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is seeking a highly motivated, customer service driven Shop Supervisor to oversee the Waste Management Division's Equipment Maintenance shop.

The successful candidate will manage and oversee the maintenance and repair program of landfill equipment including heavy earth moving equipment, agricultural, landscape and off-road vehicles/equipment. Duties include development and implementation of equipment maintenance activities to reduce maintenance program costs and downtime, oversight of maintenance program for a $6.5 million heavy equipment fleet, scheduling and oversight of maintenance and repair contractors/contracts, and utilization of computer databases to ensure that all required maintenance is performed as required. Position is also responsible for fleet and equipment acquisition, leasing and rental, and ensures equipment, tools, vehicles, and fueling stations are working and maintained. Performs hands on repair and welding activities, orders and maintains parts and tool inventory, and troubleshooting of equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and compressed air systems. Will provide general supervision of Landfill Mechanic and may provide back-up to other facility positions such as Crew Chief, Scale Operator, Mechanic and/or Heavy Equipment Operator, and operate snow removal equipment.

HIRING RANGE: $24.67-$33.31

Salary Commensurate with Experience

Job Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent with specialized training in a maintenance/trade area related to the position; three (3) years of related work experience in maintenance/trades area related to the position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Hold or obtain a Virginia Waste Management Facility Operator License within two years of hire; hold or obtain a Class A CDL Driver's License with N endorsement within one year of hire.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

Pass pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing at time of hire and continue to meet DOT/CDL requirements including alcohol and drug testing.
