LIBRARY ASSISTANT

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is looking to fill several full-time Library Assistant positions. The ideal candidates are enthusiastic, service-minded, community-oriented, and collaborative life-long learners who embrace the public library's primary role of promoting the joy of reading and learning in the society.

As a member of an enthusiastic team, Library Assistants provide direct customer service in reference, reader's advisory and circulation functions, as well as assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies. Library Assistants plan and lead programs for children, teen and adult audiences. Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. Library Assistants serve a variety of roles. There are opportunities to work at the After Hours Teen Center, which is open 7-10 p.m. every Friday, and in our innovative Makerspaces, which feature equipment such as 3D printers, sewing machines, robotics, coding products and traditional crafting supplies. All staff work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.

LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday evenings. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. Since there are several positions available at various branches throughout the Loudoun County Public Library system, please make sure to complete the supplemental questionnaire when finalizing your application. HIRING RANGE: $19.76-$26.18

Salary Commensurate with Experience

• Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma and 2 years of related library work with one (1) having been providing direct customer service to the public
• Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred

Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Constant bending, reaching, walking and standing required. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required. Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred. Passport Acceptance Agent certification and Notary Public License may be required within one year of hire date.
