Job Description

Loudoun County Government's Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Flagger/Load Spotter vacancy at the Solid Waste Management Facility. This is a full-time position that is tasked with traffic control in disposal areas at the Landfill. Duties include, but are not limited to: position flags and queue customers in line and direct them where and when to dump waste; give vehicular back-up assistance to customers; watch for traffic hazards; perform waste screening and litter control; and ensure waste is disposed in correct areas. Wears uniform and safety vest at all times. Uses two-way radio to communicate with equipment operators.

Job Requirements

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, plus two (2) years of experience in a solid waste, public works, construction, or related environment. One (1) year relevant experience working with the public is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Special Requirements

A valid driver's license is required. Work schedule is Monday-Friday. Subject to recall or being held beyond scheduled workday; must be available to respond to County emergencies (24/7) as directed in accordance with Department policy and written or verbal directive. Willing and able to work all day outdoors traversing rough and/or slippery grade during all weather conditions in an inherently dangerous work environment amongst heavy equipment and vehicular traffic.
