Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is seeking a dedicated professional for a position in the Foster Care and Adoption unit with a demonstrated interest in working with children and their families, as well as a desire to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment.

The Foster Care Specialist provides services to children in foster care and their families in an effort to reunify them.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing thorough service plans to be filed with the court
  • Providing case management services to children and families
  • Searching for relative placements
  • Testifying in court
  • Maintaining thorough case records in a State database
  • Collaborating with community partners and service providers
  • Engaging youth and families in regular planning meetings

Job Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, or related field, and minimum three years of related experience.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written skills, good organizational skills and the ability to engage youth and families from a strengths-based perspective.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Position is subject to on-call duties and may be required to work some evenings and weekends. May require some brief travel out of the area.

Special Requirements

PREFERRED:

  • Direct experience in a Child Welfare organization
  • Spanish speaking
