Job Description

Loudoun County's national award-winning Procurement office is seeking a highly motivated applicants for a Senior Buyer position. This new position was created to provide continued support to multiple County departments and agencies with their capital and facilities related small purchase needs. This position is responsible for small contracts and purchases with a value up to $100,000.

The main job duties include drafting and issuing Request for Quotes, negotiating and awarding contracts, and processing purchase orders, in compliance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act and the County’s Procurement Resolution. The position provides procurement research, advice, and guidance to department heads, division/program/project managers, vendors, and other government procurement offices. The Senior Buyer also assists departments in handling purchases within their own authority.

Job Requirements

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field and 2 years relevant procurement experience.

Excellent written and oral communication and public presentation skills, as well as attention to detail and good organization and planning skills are essential for this challenging position. Successful candidate must have excellent computer and research skills and experience with an automated purchasing system.

Knowledge of the Virginia Public Procurement Act is preferred, but training will be provided. Experience in governmental procurement (federal, state or local) is highly preferred. Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) preferred.
