ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY - TRANSACTIONAL WORK

Job Description

Loudoun County is seeking an attorney with experience in real estate transactions, contracts and construction law. The attorney will be primarily responsible for providing legal support for capital projects, including road and building construction, leasing and environmental projects.

Principle duties include:

  • Legal work related to real estate acquisitions.
  • Preparing and reviewing contracts.
  • Reviewing plats and engineering plans.
  • Analyzing title reports and clearing title.
  • Negotiating transactions, eminent domain.
  • Advising staff and elected officials, and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize workload, manage multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner, work effectively with staff to insure projects are kept on schedule; provide reliable legal advice, and attend late night meetings as needed. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Job Requirements

Requires a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the Virginia State Bar.  At least three (3) years of relevant experience is required; however, entry level candidates may be considered.  Salary will be based on experience. Experience preferred in real estate law, construction, eminent domain, and/or commercial litigation.
