The Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking qualified applicants for Prevention/Intervention Specialists to provide services to high risk youth attending Prevention/Intervention summer programs.

Job Description

These positions will provide summer programming to include evidence-based substance abuse and violence prevention programs, community service projects, and activities in recreational settings.

The successful candidates must possess strong youth leadership skills; have experience in working with high risk youth; have experience in co-leading groups and activities; demonstrate cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations; and demonstrate the ability to function effectively in an interagency and collaborative capacity.

This is a temporary six week work assignment to begin June 22, 2020, and end August 7, 2020.

Job Requirements

Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years directly related experience.

Special Requirements

Must be able to work in a recreational setting. Bilingual (Spanish) highly desirable.

Post Conditional Offer Contingencies

Employment is contingent upon criminal background check, driving record check, and TB test. Must have a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
