Job Description

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, Aging Division, is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Cook located in Leesburg, VA.

Senior Cooks prepare, cook and serve meals for both the Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) and PRCS’s aging programs. This position requires the ability to maintain Central Kitchen operations to assure safety and cleanliness, as well as follow health standards and program procedures for maintaining equipment and sanitary dishwashing. Senior Cooks provide work supervision to staff and gives instruction on safe and appropriate procedures regarding food handling, ensures compliance with program requirements for appropriate hygiene and attire, and maintains security procedures required for facility and staff safety. Senior Cooks also maintain accurate program records, complies with procedures to maintain accurate inventory of food and supplies.

Other duties include:

  • Preparing meals in compliance with posted menu
  • Packaging meals for delivery
  • Helping to monitor cleanliness and proper maintenance of floors, walls, equipment and storage areas
  • Preparing food items for special events for PRCS, Aging Division and other County agencies and for community service organizations
  • Delivers and/or serves food at special events, assists with menu planning and inventory control to meet needs of special event customers

Work schedule is flexible and will require early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays and during severe weather.

Job Requirements

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma

Special Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

  • Food Service Sanitation Certification must be received within the first 3 months of employment
