The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is seeking professional, dedicated applicants for a part time Civilian Applicant Background Investigator position to work 29 hours per week. Major job duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting background investigations for sworn and civilian positions.
- Preparing correspondence and investigative reports.
- Verifying references and past employment.
This position requires a flexible work schedule to include working evenings and weekends.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years Law Enforcement investigation experience. Preference given to applicants with experience in background investigations.
Valid driver’s license. Must be a US Citizen or current 10-year resident of the United States. Successful candidate must pass a VCIN/NCIC written examination and become VCIN/NCIC certified within three (3) months of employment.

Selection process includes review of application and applicant screening questionnaire, in-person interview(s), intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, physical examination, and successful completion of polygraph examination.
