Job Description

Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, energetic, community-oriented candidates the opportunity to become a full-time Teen Librarian at the Ashburn Library. Location is subject to change based on operational needs.

As a member of an enthusiastic team, Teen Librarians provide direct customer service in reference, reader’s advisory, programming and circulation functions, as well as assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies. Teen Librarians work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.

  • Teen Librarians plan and lead programs for teens and families.
  • Teen Librarians conduct outreach and create partnerships with schools and other community organizations.
  • Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills. LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday evening.

Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays. This job recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies.

Job Requirements

  • Requires completion of a Master’s degree from an American Library Association accredited school.
  • One (1) year prior experience providing direct customer service to the public strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.

Special Requirements

  • Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
  • Some bending, reaching, walking and standing required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred.
