JOB OVERVIEW

The Executive Manager of the Inspection/Compliance area is an advanced, responsible, administrative, supervisory and planning position involving the management of operations of the inspection, licensing and compliance team.  Employees in this class respond to customer service requests from the Building Industry and the Public, establish and monitor business metrics for their team and monitor workloads and redirect resources as necessary.  In addition, will work closely with Building Official regarding field operations of staff and construction industry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in an engineering related field

AND

Eight (8) years of experience in engineering, architecture or construction management.  Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.

AND

Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida

OR

Licensed as a Professional Architect in the State of Florida

OR

Licensed as a Division I or Division II Contractor in the State of Florida

WORK CATEGORY

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to climb ladders, rafters and scaffolding; crawl into attics and under buildings.
  • Job tasks involve frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping; unassisted lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
  • Tasks require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and verify QA/QC procedures.
  • Monitor general workload.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Manage the South County office.
  • Monitor inspection timeliness.
  • Address staff questions and provide direction.
  • Communicate and attend meetings with applicants and building industry as a primary representative of Division.
  • Manage the inspection staff and compliance staff.
  • Oversee staff and building industry training regarding codes, procedures, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
  • Holidays: Employees receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
