IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
One year of experience working in a customer service or data entry position for a government property appraisal office or real estate company/agency.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of routine office policies, procedures, and practices.
Knowledge of appraisal practices and procedures related to customer service, transfer of property ownership, data-entry, and property tax exemptions.
Knowledge of draft, aerial and variance maps; and related fee schedules.
Ability to research and resolve questions, issues, and concerns, related to the areas of customer service, transfer of property ownership, and property tax exemptions eligibility, and compliance.
Ability to use a computer, Microsoft Office software, property appraiser databases, and related applications.
Ability to research requests for property appraisal information, from multiple sources, to include files, records, accounts, databases, internet, and from various agencies, companies or other government sources.
Ability to represent the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser’s office in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to provide support, as needed, to all departments, divisions, sections, and areas of the agency.
Ability to perform standard mathematical and geometrical computations used in property valuation.
Ability to familiarize and remain current on statutory, department, and agency-wide deadlines and calendar of events for applications, appeals, and TRIM deadlines.

Reviews, sorts and scans incoming mail and emails to determine appropriate action required.
Researches various databases, such as Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, Official Records, and Lexis Nexis, to verify and determine homestead exemptions.
Researches and resolves questions, issues, and concerns related to areas of customer service, transfer of property ownership; property tax exemptions, eligibility and compliance. As needed, elevates complex issues to higher level staff member.
Enters, updates, and files information and documentation such as, building permits, appraiser notes, and agricultural applications into related computer software, applications, and databases.
Responds to telephone, mail, or in-person customer queries for information such as, qualifications, retaining exemptions, loss of exemptions, exemption corrections, and homestead tax liens.
Provides support, as needed, to all departments, division, sections, and areas of the agency.
Performs standard mathematical and geometrical computations used in property valuation.
Represents agency in a courteous and professional manner.
May maintain and order supplies and office equipment.
May reconcile monies received for data and file records requests.
Performs other related duties as required.
