IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
An ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years experience, working full-time in the safety field, possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and have demonstrated skill in the following:
- Development and implementation of occupational safety management programming
- Creation and oversight of risk management and loss control programs
- Experience in conducting safety related training
- Experience in accident investigation, and determination of cause and effect.
- Ability to perform industrial hygiene evaluations, including, but not limited to, indoor air quality and noise surveys
- Ability to work collaboratively with personnel at various levels in an organization, including leadership and front-line employees
- Experience in emergency response protocols as related to County requirements
Two years of experience in workplace safety training, accident prevention, or accident investigation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops and presents safety training programs, courses, classes and associated materials.
- Inspects work areas for compliance with health and safety regulations and prepares recommendations to alleviate hazards or discrepancies.
- Develops and implements effective accident control programs.
- Promotes the establishment of safety and health programs through department directors and managers.
- Investigates accidents to determine cause and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
- Writes reports of inspections and investigations.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Knowledge of the laws and regulations governing workplace health and safety.
- Knowledge of workplace accident inspection and investigation techniques.
- Skill in making presentations to groups.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and to develop logical conclusions.

- Health Plan: The County pays towards health insurance premiums for all employees. Employees can select from two (2) healthcare plan options. Coverage is effective the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.

- Vision Care: Employees and their dependents are eligible to enroll in the vision coverage. Co-payment coverage includes exams, lens and frame, as well as an allowable contact lens expense. Coverage is effective the first of the month following thirty (30) days of employment.
- Employee Assistance Program: This program provides all employees and family members with professional, confidential counseling sessions. All employees and dependents are afforded up to six (6) free visits per Plan year. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.
- Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
- Holidays: Employees receive up to twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
