JOB OVERVIEW

This position reports directly to the Director of Public Relations and performs public relations duties by helping to build relationships with the Hillsborough County community and seeking community feedback on how to improve the lives of children and families. This position assists in coordinating the timely development, administration and release of information regarding a wide range of programs and services to foster and improve education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Three or more years of experience planning and implementing public relations or community education programs.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-specific competencies noted below.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Responds to all outreach requests and prioritizes those inquiries which are most appropriate based on Children’s Board community relations efforts.
  • Coordinates and attends all scheduled outreach events as a representative of the Children’s Board scheduled during normal business hours, evenings and weekends.
  • Provides logistical support to other Children’s Board departments for outreach efforts. 
  • Assists in development and implementation of Children’s Board special events. 
  • Attends appropriate conferences and events, building community relationships, and other related PR functions.
  • Monitors supplies for outreach efforts and assists in procurement of supplies as needed.
  • Creates purchase orders to support Public Relations departmental activities. 
  • Maintains historical data relating to outreach events. 
  • Serves as a liaison to external agencies to promote Children’s Board public relations efforts. 
  • Contributes to and regularly updates social media sites and demonstrates the growth of social media followers and influencers. 
  • Responsible for the assembly and distribution of child safety educational materials. 
  • Under the direction of the Director of Public relations, performs website updates.
  • Provides support by proofreading and distributing Public Relations correspondence.
  • Represents the department/agency at meetings as requested. 
  • Compiles data and prepares reports of activities and achievements. 
  • May assist Director of Public Relations by following up on the status of time sensitive items within the department.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
