Performs technical duties involving the recording of video footage with audio utilizing a portable video camera.


An Associate's or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Mass Communications; and
One year of television production experience.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

  • Working knowledge of television production techniques, language, equipment and applications.
  • Some knowledge of basic audio and video editing and processing for media productions.
  • Some knowledge of web based media applications and preparing media for social media. 
  • Skill in setting up and operating television production equipment.
  • Ability to determine and meet client's needs.

  • Ability to generate specific video footage requested by program producers.
  • Ability to direct the production of television and video programs.

  • Ability to use a computer and related software.

  • Ability to generate high quality video footage, with audio, through the use of portable video cameras, light kits, and microphones.

  • Operates a portable video camera, utilizing a tripod and handheld techniques, to shoot footage that maintains proper framing and exposure.
  • Records quality audio utilizing portable and camera mounted microphones.
  • Lights scenes to be recorded using portable lighting equipment.
  • Digitizes and archives video footage from field tapes into a digital storage system.
  • May operate studio camera, audio mixer, character generator, teleprompter, and lighting board for various studio and remote productions.
  • May direct and/or technical direct governmental meeting coverage, studio shows, and remote productions.
  • May edit television programs, show opens, promotions, and public service announcements on final Cut Pro nonlinear editing system.
  • Assists producers with various preproduction tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Possession of a valid Driver License.
