JOB OVERVIEW

Performs technical duties planning, scriptwriting, producing, and directing taped and live television productions; and assisting the Station Manager in the day-to-day administrative operation of the television station.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university with a major in Mass Communication, Radio/TV Broadcasting, Film, Advertising, Public Relations, Education Media, or other mass communication field; and
Three years experience producing television or video programs.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Produces and directs all aspects of television productions.
  • Writes and edits scripts; schedules remote shoots including performers and crews; and edits video productions.
  • Acts as lead worker and assists Station Manager in the day-to-day administrative operation of the television station.
  • Develops and conducts technical training sessions for producer/directors.
  • Researches and collects information for use in developing program ideas and scripts.
  • Provides technical guidance to producer/directors when producing more technically difficult productions.
  • Coordinates and conducts preproduction sessions to plan the effective use of time, budget, and materials to achieve a professional, air ready video product.
  • Operates video equipment such as television cameras, switchers, audio mixers, videotape recorders/players, edit controllers, character generators, and dimmer boards.
  • Schedules producer/directors to videotape meetings.
  • Schedules, trains, and oversees temporary and freelance staff.
  • Reads professional publications, researches changes in technology, and recommends changes to equipment or procedures as appropriate.
  • Assists technical staff in troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Prepares production progress reports.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME POSITIONS

Possession of a valid Driver License.
