TV Production Assistant (#TVPROAGENE) GENE

Performs entry-level duties associated with the production of various television programs.


Graduation from high school or possession of GED Certificate; and
Two years of television production experience.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

  • Some knowledge of television production techniques, language, equipment, and applications.
  • Some knowledge of web based technologies for media applications.
  • Some knowledge of preparing media for social media applications. 
  • Skill in setting up and operating television production equipment.
  • Ability to determine and meet client's needs.
  • Ability to direct routine productions of television and video programs.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.
  • Ability to use a computer and related software.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Serves as television director during governmental meetings.
  • Operates robotic cameras for governmental meeting coverage.
  • Serves as floor director for meetings, studio and remote productions.
  • Assists in directing studio and remote productions.
  • Operates studio camera for studio and remote productions.
  • Operates audio board or mixer for governmental meetings, studio and remote productions.
  • Sets lighting equipment for various studio and remote productions.
  • Assists in designing studio sets and prop layout for various productions.
  • Operates Teleprompter for studio and remote productions.
  • Operates Character Generator for governmental meetings, studio, and remote productions.
  • Serves as production grip on single camera field shoots and remote productions.
  • Digitizes and archives video footage from field tapes into digital storage system.
  • Maintains/updates character generator and graphics databases.
  • Assists with graphic design using various software programs.
  • Assists producers with various preproduction tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Possession of a valid Driver License.
