JOB OVERVIEW

Performs technical duties coordinating on-air playback of scheduled programming for the government access channel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

An Associate's or higher degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Graphic Arts; and
One year of experience developing computer graphics for television programs or video productions, which included six months of experience assisting in the production of television programs;

Or graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; and
Successful completion of a vocational or technical program in Computer Graphic Arts; and
Two years of experience developing computer graphics for television programs or video productions, which included six months of experience assisting in the production of television programs.

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of television and video equipment operation.
  • Working knowledge of the process of taping, dubbing or editing videotapes.
  • Working knowledge of the industry standards for audio/video transcoding processes and procedures. 
  • Skill in the operation of video production equipment.
  • Ability to operate video production equipment such as cameras, switchers, audio mixers, and editors.
  • Working knowledge of social media and ability to create media for those applications. 
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a video tape library and the databases used to catalog and index materials.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Operates playback equipment to perform on-air playback of scheduled programming and maintains playback log.
  • Maintains video tape library, tape stock, and raw footage tapes.
  • Maintains and updates databases related to video archives and station automation processes. 
  • Maintains equipment inventory and instructs users on proper equipment operating procedures.
  • Performs video/audio dubbing duties.
  • Creates video copies using transcoding hardware/software for social media and other web-based applications. 
  • Updates and maintains County electronic bulletin board.
  • Updates and maintains the off-site video streaming and Video-on-Demand archive. 
  • May assist other studio personnel as necessary.
  • May assist with meeting related coverage as a floor director, camera or audio board operator. 
  • Performs other related duties as required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SOME POSITIONS

Possession of a valid Driver License.
