Telecommunications Coordinator (#TELCRDGENO) GENO
$19.60-$31.11 Hourly / $3,397.33-$5,392.40 Monthly / $40,768.00-$64,708.80 Yearly


Performs duties analyzing, evaluating and servicing telecommunication needs of departments and agencies. Reviews technical requirements for various telephony systems and services and establishes service orders. May act as project team lead for telephony related projects and programs.



A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Information Systems or a closely related Telecommunications technology field; and
Three years of experience in telecommunication infrastructure, telephony systems and supporting services.  

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job related competencies noted.


  • Knowledge of telecommunications systems and cable plants and the interrelationship of these systems with the hardware, software and infrastructure required.
  • Working knowledge of private branch exchange, electronic key, analog and Voice over IP (VOIP) telephone systems.
  • Working knowledge of principles and practices of project management.
  • Working knowledge of voice and data cabling and installation procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computer based data base management systems.
  • Knowledge of telephone system installation procedures.
  • Knowledge of telephone, voice mail, fax machines, wireless and cellular device operations.
  • Knowledge of telephone billing procedures and associated accounting practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain team’s project related work load plans.
  • Ability to develop and implement a telecommunications system plan.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate telecommunications systems problems.
  • Ability to accurately determine telecommunications requirements and establishing Statements of Work.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and to develop logical conclusions.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

  • Evaluates telecommunications needs of departments/agencies and makes recommendations for service changes.
  • May act as project team lead for telephony related projects and programs.  
  • Monitors project schedules and coordinates activities among team members to ensure that project requirements are met.
  • Establishes third party hosted telecommunication services with various other state agencies, external vendors and local service providers.
  • Reviews technical requirements and establishes scope of work for telecommunication infrastructure and service orders.
  • Coordinates with vendors and system users for the installation of telecommunications lines, circuits and equipment.
  • Prepares request for quotes/proposals on telecommunications systems.
  • Prepares Communication Service Authorizations for additions, moves, and changes for the installation of telecommunication lines, circuits and equipment.
  • Provides information, training and technical assistance to end-users for the use of telecommunication services, portals, equipment and systems.
  • Receives requests from clients reporting telecommunication failures or problems, troubleshoots problems and applies corrective action.
  • Maintains telephony inventory databases and establishes reports as required.
  • Reviews and audits telecommunication invoices and authorizes payment of telecommunication charges and service orders.
  • Develops and monitors budget for telecommunications service.
  • Prepares telecommunication activity reports.
  • Designs and implements administrative procedures & guidelines to ensure effective project/program compliance.
  • Coordinates section, staff and monthly vendor meetings.
  • Establishes agenda and recap documentation and monitors assignment performance.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
