JOB OVERVIEW

Performs complex computer security duties in the planning, development and maintenance of computer systems security policies and standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science; and
Two years experience in computer systems security and/or computer systems auditing.

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and techniques of computer systems including systems analysis, design, long term planning, programming, and computer equipment characteristics.
  • Considerable knowledge of computer and data security principles.
  • Working knowledge of computer programming languages.
  • Ability to prepare short and long range computer security plans.
  • Ability to analyze systems and to plan computer applications.
  • Ability to collect, organize and evaluate data and to develop logical conclusions.
  • Ability to perform system security audits and make recommendations to ensure effective security procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Assist Information and Technology Services management in the strategic planning, development and maintenance for computer systems security policies and standards.
  • Reviews annual Strategic Automation Plan to ensure security requirements are included.
  • Reviews department Request for Proposals to ensure that security features are included.
  • Plans, schedules and performs information security risk assessments and internal audits of automation systems.
  • Monitor compliance with security polices and standards.
  • Assists the Information and Technology Services Director in strategic planning of information security policies and standards.
  • Develops and delivers a computer systems security awareness program.
  • Plans, schedules and performs Information and Technology audits.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
