JOB OVERVIEW

Performs managerial and supervisory duties by overseeing and coordinating staff members responsible for the design, programming, and maintenance of operating and communications system software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university with a major in a data processing field; and
Four years of experience in communications systems software programming.
  

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Manages staff engaged in software support functions related to the design, programming, and maintenance of operating and communications systems.
  • Directs staff in the analyses of vendor supplied software and determines optimum configuration for hardware and software interfaces.
  • Functions as the inhouse specialist providing technical expertise on hardware and software capabilities.
  • Ensures that user needs and requirements are properly interfaced within broad parameters and capabilities of system configurations.
  • Provides expert level consulting to agency and department management and users in planning, acquiring, and utilizing data processing hardware and software.
  • Identifies, develops and implements projects and initiatives to meet business systems and software needs.
  • Ensures business continuity and disaster recovery in accordance with standard practices and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
