JOB OVERVIEW

Performs clerical duties which include compiling and tabulating statistical data from source records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate; and
Two years of experience compiling and summarizing data.

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS

A passing score on multiple-choice test number 86; and
A passing score on a data entry test at 100 gross keystrokes per minute with 90% accuracy.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge of the mathematics used in the calculation of rates, ratios and percentages in the work to which assigned.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent statistical formulas and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of various presentation formats, such as graphs, charts and tables.
  • Ability to prepare written reports.
  • Ability to convert raw data to clear, concise presentations.
  • Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate office machines used to compile and tabulate data.to compile and tabulate data.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Sorts, codes, and summarizes data from source materials, such as records, reports and questionnaires following prescribed procedures.
  • Operates calculating machine and computer software to make computations required by basic statistical formulas.
  • Prepares charts, graphs, diagrams and other visual aids for presentation of statistical information in reports, publications and meetings.
  • Prepares and revises data collection forms as required.
  • Compiles periodic reports.
  • Assists in the preparation of schedules, reports and questionnaires.
  • Responds to basic data inquiries from the staff and the public.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
